About

Going To College, LLC, is an educational consulting firm that was founded by Ms. Charlain Bailey in 2018. Our mission is to provide ALL students with the opportunity to obtain a college education. Ms. Bailey was a school counselor at Montgomery Blair High School for eighteen years and an employee of the Montgomery County Public School System for thirty years. She is a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC), as well as a member of the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) and the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC). Charlain has served on the staff of the PCACAC Summer Institute providing workshops and seminars to college access professionals. In 2018, she was recognized by PCACAC as “Counselor of the Year” for her professional development work and advocacy for first generation college students.

Charlain dedicated her career to supporting students throughout their high school years and assisted all students with their post high school transition plans, which included career and college planning. As a result, she has developed long standing mentoring relationships with her former students. Many of those students were first generation college students. Through this experience, she realized the transformational power of a college education for first generation students and their families. Upon her retirement, she continues to be an active member of the Blair community and has partnered with alumni to establish the Bailey’s Dream First Generation Scholarship Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Bailey’s Dream provides scholarships and free financial aid advisement to first generation college students from Montgomery Blair High School (www.baileysdream.org).
